SSE Renewables appoints Jasper Vis as Netherlands Country Manager
On the first day of WindEurope in Copenhagen, leading UK and Ireland offshore wind developer SSE Renewables announces the appointment of Jasper Vis as its new Country Manager for the Netherlands.
Jasper Vis brings 25 years of experience in renewable energy, working across several companies and organisations, including TenneT (TSO), Ørsted, Ecofys and Stichting Natuur & Milieu. Among other things, Jasper worked on the development of hybrid offshore wind hubs as part of the North Sea Wind Power Hub programme (NSWPH) at TenneT, headed Ørsted Netherlands for several years, managed a consultancy group in the field of energy and climate, and ran campaigns for the Dutch environmental NGO, Stichting Natuur & Milieu.
At Ørsted, Jasper was responsible for the winning bid in the tender for the Dutch offshore wind farm Borssele 1&2. Jasper Vis will start in his new position from 8 May and will be based in the SSE Renewables Netherlands office in Rotterdam.
Paul Cooley, Director of Offshore at SSE Renewables:
“Jasper is joining SSE Renewables at a crucial time, as we work to build on our pipeline and expand into the Netherlands to deliver on our ambitious growth targets.
“Jasper will be responsible for leading our growing Dutch team. Given his deep knowledge and experience of the renewables sector, I’m confident that Jasper will deliver our ambitions in the Netherlands, thus contributing to securing energy supply for the Netherlands, and putting offshore wind at the forefront of fighting climate change.”
Jasper Vis, County Manager, SSE Renewables Netherlands:
“I am excited to lead SSE Renewables in the Netherlands, and to be building on the excellent work that Dennis Breugelmans and team have done in establishing SSE Renewables in the Netherlands.
“The Netherlands has become one of the leading countries in offshore wind and has high ambitions for the further growth of offshore wind. This can only succeed if offshore wind farms are developed in balance with nature and other users of the North Sea. Also, developing an offshore wind farm nowadays requires clever integration in the energy system.
“I look forward to work together with our Dutch partner ABP/APG and bring intelligent solutions to Dutch North Sea waters. I also look forward to continuing the cooperation with Dutch authorities, the industry, NGOs and other stakeholders.”
