Heat records broken again

In Europe, the summer months bring heat record after heat record. On July 25, 2019, we saw the highest temperature ever recorded in the Netherlands. That day reached a startling 40.7 °C in Gilze-Rijen. In the same month, the country recorded a total of ten extremely hot days.

Global warming is causing more and more extreme weather. Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time and the need for more renewable energy sources has never been greater.

SSE Renewables, as a developer and operator of offshore and onshore wind farms, is charging ahead. We are currently building more offshore wind energy than any other company and want to establish a strong position in the Netherlands as a developer and operator of offshore wind farms. With Noordzeker, our joint venture with pension fund ABP and APG, we have the ambition to develop and operate 4GW of wind energy production at the IJmuiden Ver wind farm in the North Sea.
