Towards a fully sustainable wind energy production chain

SSE Renewables, together with solar and wind energy companies, industry associations, NGOs, the Dutch government, trade unions and knowledge institutes, is working to make the renewable energy sector even more sustainable. To this end, we have signed the IMVO covenant for international and corporate social responsibility for the renewable energy sector. We want to jointly address and prevent human rights violations and environmental damage.

“To make our value chain truly sustainable – from the production of wind turbine components to soil testing – we need to have greater cooperation within the sector,” said Jasper Vis, director of SSE Renewables in the Netherlands. “The stakes are too high, and the problems too complex to solve alone.”

The cooperation, also known as the International Responsible Business Conduct (IRBC) covenant, helps parties reach shared solutions.

“All good intentions notwithstanding, no single party can handle the complex issues raised by the energy transition alone. Only by acting together can we make a difference,” Jasper said.

Through their participation, parties commit to complying with international OECD and UN guidelines in their own operations and in the supply chain.
